Everything you need to know about Harry Style’s new album.

Harry Styles first found fame in 2010 as a solo contestant on the music competition series The X Factor. Although, being unsuccessful on the show as a solo artist and being sent home, Harry was later brought back to join the boy band One Direction, which went on to being one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.

The band took an indefinite hiatus in 2016, and Styles went on to launch a successful career as a solo artist. His first self-titled solo album was released in 2017 and debuted at number one in both the UK and US charts, with it’s lead single ‘Sign of the Times’ topping the UK single charts. Styles’ second album, ‘Fine Line’ was released in 2019 and had the biggest ever first-week sales of an English male artist in the US Billboard 200. The album has also since gone on to be included in Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’.

Styles’ third and most recent album, ‘Harry’s House’ was released in May 2022 has already broken several records. Debuting at the top of both the UK and US charts, Harry’s House went on to be the fastest-selling album of 2022 in both countries. The chart-topping single ‘As It Was’ became Styles; second solo number one and occupied the top spot in both the UK and US during it’s release week. Styles has become the second British act after the Beatles to have four tracks from an album charting within the US top 10 at the same time.

The lead single from Harry’s House, ‘As It Was’, has had over 136 million views on YouTube and over 576 million streams on Spotify, making it the most successful single from the album to date. Watermelon Sugar from Styles’ second album still holds the top spot as his most successful single to date with 791 million views on Youtube and 1.7 billion streams on Spotify.

The album Harry’s House was written and recorded predominantly through the pandemic, which Styles says deeply affected his mindset and creative process. The downtime caused during the pandemic also meant Styles spent more time at home, which ultimately influenced the title of the album. Styles listened to other genres like classical and instrumental when recording the album rather than popular songs, to allow himself to step out of his comfort zone. By listening to instrumental music, it allowed Styles to be influenced by instruments rather than just vocals, which had a massive impact on the album.

Harry’s House features songs about love, heartbreak, and everything in between. With 13 tracks, the album has influences from the 1970’s and 80’s and was recorded in more than one location, including California and Bath.

The album is available now to download, stream, watch and purchase on CD and vinyl.
