2022 has almost come to an end and we’re looking back at every number 1 single of the
year to date.

Easy On Me | Adele

Adele kicked off 2022 with her single Easy On Me as it returned to the top of the charts for
an eighth non-consecutive week on the 13th January 2022. With 19.7 million streams in one day, Easy On Me broke the all-time record for the most streamed song in a single day
globally on Spotify, in addition to setting the record for the most streamed song in a single
week with 84.9 million streams.

ABCDEFU | Gayle

ABCDEFU by Gayle secured the number 1 spot on the 20th January 2022 for 1 week.
ABCDEFU was the debut single of Nashville-based singer songwriter Gayle, which went
onto reach number 1 on the Billboard Global 200, number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and
number 1 in various countries including the UK. The single also received a nomination for
Song of the Year for the 65th annual Grammy Awards.

We Don’t Talk About Bruno | Gaitan/Castillo/Adassa/Feliz

Released in November 2021, the Disney Encanto soundtrack We Don’t Talk About Bruno
topped the UK charts on the 27th January 2022 for 7 weeks. We Don’t Talk About Bruno was the first Disney soundtrack to hit the number 1 spot since Frozen 2 in 2019 and has
achieved over 100 million streams.

Starlight | Dave

Starlight by Dave knocked We Don’t Talk About Bruno off the number one spot on 17.03.22. Starlight was the second number 1 single for British rapper Dave which achieved a month-long stretch at the top the Official Singles Chart making it the longest-running number 1 solo for a UK Rap single in Official Charts history.

As It Was | Harry Styles

As It Was by Harry Styles hit the number 1 spot on 14.04.22 which it held onto for 10
consecutive weeks. With over 150 million streams, As It Was boats the accolade of being
the most streamed-track of the year to date. It was also the most physically purchased and
digitally downloaded song in the UK to date too.

Running Up That Hill | Kate Bush

Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush was first released by British singer songwriter Kate Bush
in August 1985 but received renewed attention in 2022 after it featured in the fourth season of Stranger Things on Netflix. It hit the number one spot on 23.06.22 which it held for 3 weeks.

Afraid To Feel | LF System

Although originally created in 2019 by British duo LF System, Afraid To Feel was picked up
for release by Warner Music UK in May 2022. The song quickly rose in popularity and hit the number one spot on the 14th June 2022 where it spend 8 consecutive weeks in the UK
Singles Chart.

B.O.T.A (Baddest Of Them All) | Eliza Rose/Interplanetary

B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All) by British singer and Dj Eliza Rose, found popularity in July
2022 a month after its release. It was then picked up and released as a radio edit by Warner Music UK and went onto top the charts for two consecutive weeks on the 08th September 2022.

Forget Me | Lewis Capaldi

Forget Me by Scottish singer songwriter Lewis Capaldi was released in September 2022 and
debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on the 22nd September 2022 for one week. The single gave Capaldi his third number 1 single in the UK charts.

I’m Good (Blue) | David Guetta ft. Bebe Rexha

29.09.22 – 1 week
I’m Good (Blue) by Bebe Rexha and David Guetta was released in August 2022 although it
had been recorded and performed several years earlier. The single heavily samples Eiffel
65’s 1998 single Blue (Da Ba Dee) who are given writing credits, gained popularity on TikTok and achieved the number one spot in the UK Official Charts on the 29th September 2022.

Unholy | Sam Smith & Kim Petras

First teased on TikTok on 18th August 2022, Unholy by Sam Smith & Kim Petras was
officially released on 22nd September where it achieved chart success. Unholy claimed the
number one spot in the UK Official Singles chart on the 6th October 2022 for 4 weeks.

Anti-Hero | Taylor Swift

Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift broke the global and US records for the biggest opening-day
streams for a song in Spotify history. Reaching the top 10 of the official charts in 38
territories it also peaked the UK and USA charts. Anti-Hero was Swift’s ninth number-one
single on the Billboard Hot 100 making her the only soloist ever to debut five songs at the
top of the charts. Swift claimed the top spot on the UK Official Singles Chart on the 3rd
November 2022 and has held the position for 5 consecutive weeks (at time of writing).
