Cardi B Reacts to Fan Who Was Brought to Tears by ‘WAP’ Performance While Grieving Late Mom: ‘I Love You’

Cardi B connected with a fan on social media for a heartwarming exchange earlier this week, after the fan shared footage of being brought to tears by Cardi’s “WAP” performance in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday (April 12) at the Little Miss Drama Tour.

The fan named Kelly (@TheOriginalKmart on TikTok) posted a clip on Tuesday (April 14), tearing up during “WAP” at the Spectrum Center and explaining why, which was followed by a video of her mother, who has since passed away, watching the “WAP” music video for the first time with her.

“This is the last video I took of my Mom before colon cancer took her from me,” Kelly wrote. “Cardi B is what I listened to while I did my Mom’s makeup for her funeral. It’s the only music that didn’t make me cry. Cardi’s music gave me the strength I needed, so I could doll my Momma up just one last time.”

The viral TikTok video has since amassed more than 120,000 likes and made its way onto Cardi B’s radar. “Now we both gonna cry at WAP,” Cardi commented on the clip.

Cardi added in a comforting IG comment: “Omggg this made me feel a certain way. I just want you to know your mom is always by your side and imma always remember this video… I love you.”

Kelly ended up posting a follow-up video on Wednesday (April 15), revealing she’s been in tears since Cardi responded to her.

“I love you too @Cardi B and I love you #bardigang,” she wrote. “I’m overwhelmed with all of the comments and love from everyone sharing their love and their stories of loss. I see you friends and I love you all!”

“WAP” arrived in August 2020, featuring an assist from Megan Thee Stallion. The raunchy anthem topped the Billboard Hot 100 and spent four weeks at No. 1.

The Little Miss Drama Tour has had a little bit of everything, including heartfelt moments such as this. Cardi’s first headlining trek wraps up this weekend with a pair of shows in Atlanta on April 17 and April 18.
